Initial Consultation
A free initial consultation is provided to parents as a time to meet and answer questions about midwifery and homebirth. During the visit we can get to know one another, discuss my services, and answer any other concerns you might have.
Prenatal Care
Prenatal visits are a time to meet individualized needs and develop a partnership between mother, partner and midwife. Because this time is so important and personal, each visit is about an hour in the comfort of your own home. During this time we will monitor the health of you and your baby and review any concerns or questions you might have regarding your pregnancy and upcoming birth. I offer all standard prenatal tests including ultrasounds and prenatal genetic testing. During your visit we can discuss the risks, benefits, and alternatives of different prenatal tests and what options are best for you and your family.
During your pregnancy we will meet once a month until 28 weeks and then twice a month until 36 weeks. After 36 weeks we will meet once a week until the birth of your baby.
Homebirth & Waterbirth
Every woman’s journey through labor and birth is unique. Throughout your pregnancy we will discuss what you envision for your birth and begin preparing for that day. I trust in the birth process, and during your labor and birth I will watchfully wait and provide guidance and support when needed while ensuring the safety of you and your baby. After the baby is born you and your family will have some private time to bond and welcome your newest member into your family. After you have nursed the baby and have spent some time together, I will examine both you and the baby and help you get cleaned up and settled in bed. I will stay for several hours after the birth to make sure that you and the baby are doing well and return in 24 hours to follow up.
Postpartum Care
After the baby is born I will come back to your home the next day, then 3 days later, a week after the birth and at 4 and 6 weeks postpartum. During your postpartum visits I will monitor the baby’s growth and your transition to motherhood and provide breastfeeding assistance as needed.
Well-Woman Care
I provide midwifery services to women of all ages and stages in life. Yearly, well-woman visits include a complete physical exam, pap smear, blood work, and mammography as needed. I also offer preconception counseling and education on fertility awareness.
